Kayley’s Career Reset – From Uncertainty to Values-Aligned New Direction
When Kayley began coaching, she sensed that work wasn’t quite fitting, but she couldn’t pinpoint why or how to change that. She was capable, experienced, and doing well in her role, but something about the way she was working – and the direction her career was heading – didn’t feel right.
Over the course of the programme, she gained a much clearer picture of her strengths, the conditions she needs in a role to thrive, and how to reshape challenging aspects of work into something she could approach with energy and focus. That insight has given her a lasting foundation for making career decisions with confidence.
“One of the most significant things is the awareness it brought to my strengths, what I can leverage to help me enjoy aspects of a role I might otherwise not enjoy, and what I need in a role to thrive,” says Kayley.
Taking action on a new direction
Since completing the coaching, Kayley has taken bold steps – she’s now moved to Canada and is preparing for a meaningful shift in her career toward the financial services sector. One of the ideas that came up for her during the coaching process was that roles involving financial analysis could be a good fit, which reinforced her thinking about the kind of work she wants to pursue.
For Kayley, this isn’t just a job change – it’s a whole-life change that combines a new location, a new industry, and a more intentional approach to how she works. She’s moving forward knowing that her skills and experience are transferable, and that there’s no “wasted” experience when you’re building a career that aligns with your values.
“It is well worth the time and money. It gives clarity and confidence to pivot. There is no sunk cost loss, just experience gained with transferable skills.”
Tools she continues to use
One of the most valuable outcomes of the programme for Kayley has been the practical tools she can revisit any time. She regularly uses her strengths report to help her focus on what she does best and adapt her approach to different situations.
Her values framework has also become a touchstone – not just for her own decisions, but in conversations with colleagues, where she’s shared the exercise to help them reflect on their own development.
Reflecting on her progress, Kayley says one of the unexpected benefits or realisations was that “I am capable of a lot when I am able to utilise my strengths!”
Career wellbeing gains
Kayley’s career wellbeing has improved most in two areas – confidence and self-awareness. She now has a stronger sense of the value she brings, and while she’s still working on remembering when and how to lean into her strengths, having that awareness means she can shift her mindset when needed. This ability to pause, reflect, and reset is helping her make more deliberate choices about her career path.
Kayley’s story is a reminder that career change isn’t just about finding a new role – it’s about knowing yourself well enough to recognise the opportunities that will genuinely fit, and having the confidence to take them when they come.
